H. The 12th Kenting Tai Situpa&#8217;s <\/a>disciples from Derge and Nangchen region who settled in <strong>Bir, Himachal Pardesh Northern India<\/strong>, offered a protected pine forested land located in the foothills of the Himalayas. Here His Holiness started to establish <strong>Palpung Sherab Ling<\/strong>, which later became his <strong>seat in India<\/strong>. The building was designed by Guru Vajradhara H. H. Kenting Tai Situpa, and is built of modern materials and finished in traditional Tibetan architectural fashion. The monastery, only a few miles from the nearest town, retains its calmness and isolation.<\/p>\n<p>It has 250 monks&#8217; quarters, accommodating over 500 monks, three shrine halls, six shrine rooms, and all of the traditional and modern monastic features. Palpung Sherab Ling also has <strong>Naro Ch\u00f6drug retreat<\/strong> houses for monks and nuns, a <strong>Nigu Ch\u00f6drug retreat<\/strong> house and<strong> individual cabins<\/strong> for lay practitioners.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-21474\" src=\"https:\/\/www.palpung.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/FB_IMG_1552552624158-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.palpung.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/FB_IMG_1552552624158-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.palpung.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/FB_IMG_1552552624158-450x300.jpg 450w, https:\/\/www.palpung.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/FB_IMG_1552552624158.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Further, there is a <strong>primary school<\/strong> for more than 250 kids, a <strong>university<\/strong> for higher Buddhist studies for more than 250 students, an <strong>arts and handicraft center<\/strong>, a <strong>health center and home for the elder<\/strong> with a <strong>small hospital<\/strong>, a<strong> mandala temple<\/strong>, the <strong>international Buddhist Institute for foreign students from all over the world<\/strong>, a <strong>guest house<\/strong>, the <strong>stupa temple with relics of Guru Vajradhara H. H. The 8th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa<\/strong> and various sets of eight <strong>stupas<\/strong> commemorating the eight important steps in Buddha Shakyamuni\u2019s life.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-21470\" src=\"https:\/\/www.palpung.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/20181106_100746-1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>Palpung Sherab Ling is situated in the gentle pine forested foothills of the Kangra valley. The thirty acres of land are formed by three south sloping ridges.
