Therefore, Kabab zhi Gyupa is all the teachings of the Kagyu which Tilopa had received from the <strong>Four Streams of Lineage:<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Subtle Heat<\/em> from Caryapada,<br \/>\n<em>Illusory body<\/em> from Nagarjuna<br \/>\n<em>Dream yoga<\/em> from Lvabapa<br \/>\n<em>Bardo<\/em> from Sukhasiddhi<\/p>\n<p>The lineage was passed on from master to student by the great forefathers of our lineage \u2013 from <strong>Tilopa <\/strong>(988 \u2013 1069), to <strong>Naropa<\/strong> (1016-1100), <strong>Marpa<\/strong> (1012-1097), <strong>Milarepa<\/strong> (1040-1123). Until then, it is called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palpung.eu\/en\/about-us\/lineage\/vajrayana\/marpa-kagyu\/\">Marpa Kagyu.<\/a> With <strong>Gampopa<\/strong> (1084-1161) who had received the monastic lineage from the Kadampas the lineage is also called <strong>Dagpo Kagyu<\/strong>. From Gampopa it further developed into many branch lineages.<\/p>\n<p>With the incarnations of The <a href=\"\/en\/about-us\/lineage\/vajrayana\/karma-kagyu\/gyalwang-karmapa\/the-17-gyalwang-karmapas\/\">Gyalwang Karmapas<\/a>, starting with <a href=\"\/en\/about-us\/lineage\/vajrayana\/karma-kagyu\/gyalwang-karmapa\/the-17-gyalwang-karmapas\/\">Dusum Khyenpa<\/a>\u00a0(1110-1193), the lineage is known as the <strong>Golden Rosary of Kagyu<\/strong>. With The Gyalwang Karmapa it developed into the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palpung.eu\/en\/about-us\/lineage\/vajrayana\/karma-kagyu\/\">Karma Kagyu<\/a>, as one of the branch lineages of the Marpa Kagyu.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kagyu in Tibet<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The lineage reached the land of snows in the 11th century. Lord Marpa Lotsawa travelled three times to India to receive Mahamudra teachings from his 108 masters and yogis, particularly Naropa, with whom he spent 21 years altogether practicing his instructions, and from Maitripa. He founded the Marpa Kagyu which initially was a purely yogic lineage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lineage of Mahamudra<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Core or center of our lineage is the practice of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palpung.eu\/en\/practising-buddhism\/meditation\/mahamudra\/\">Mahamudra<\/a>, both in Sutra as well as in Tantra transmissions.
