Palpung Yeshe Chökhor Ling Europe is a direct, independent branch of the Palpung congregation of Chamgon Tai Situ Rinpoche, established and directed by Lama Palmo.
Our project with all its activities, the center in Purkersdorf and all its practice groups, is dedicated to the development of peace starting within ourselves to further reach out to all sentient beings, it is our contribution to World Peace. Our parent monastery is Palpung Sherab Ling in Himachal Pradesh, India.
Everthing started in 1997 when Chamgon Tai Situ Rinpoche bestowed on us the initial name for a center. Since then, a group of dedicated people had been practicing, hoping to be able to soon establish a physical place for a center with a teacher in residence.
After the completion of her Three-year-retreat in 2004, following the sincere requests of these individuals, Lama Palmo was sent to Austria to implement the long wished for project.
During her stay in Sherab Ling in India in March 2005 Lama Palmo met several times with Tai Situ Rinpoche. Plans for the center in Austria were precisely discussed.
On March 8th 2006, Lama Palmo met with H. H. 14th Dalai Lama in a private audience in Dharamsala during the course of which she discussed the project with His Holiness and requested his blessing. His Holiness conferred advise, blessing and presented Lama Palmo with a big statue of Buddha Shakyamuni at the end of the audience, „for your institution“. The very same day she also met with H. H. 17th Gyalwang Karmapa who also bestowed his blessing and encouragement for the project.
2007 Chamgon Tai Situ Rinpoche changed the previously bestowed name for her activities and plans into Palpung Yeshe Chökhor Ling Europoe, Lama Palmo's responsibilities were discussed and Rinpoche appointed her teacher in residence to her center. She is its director and fully responsible for the center and its branches which she established.
