Shangpa Kagyu

- Shangpa Kagyu lineage tree
The particular Shangpa Kagyu lineage has its origin with the Indian dakinis Niguma and Sukkha Siddhi who had received all the transmissions from Vajradhara directly. From there they were passed on to Khyungpo Naljor.
He lived in the 11th century and established a monastery in Shang Shung which became his main seat, hence he was known as the Lama from Shang.
Khyungpo Naljor passed the lineage on to Maitripa, from him to Rahula, to Dorje Tenpa, Ah Dharma, Mochokpa, Kyergonpa, Nyentonpa, Khyungpo Tsulgon, Sangye Tonpa, Tangtong Gyalpo, Je Drolchok, Taranatha, and the Jamgon Kongtrul incarnations to Kyabje Kalu Rinpoche who is the lineage holder of the glorious Shangpa Kagyu lineage.
